Have a 1080P YI camera I bought on amazon, and it's worked great. Problem is if I zoom in it is extremely grainy.

This obviously does it's intended purpose no good.

Didn't even notice that thread.

I'm not your neighbor, probably.

How far are you trying to zoom, and are there settings within the software to make it record 1080 instead of a lower resolution?

I have the Reolink PTZ(pan, tilt, zoom) They come in wireless or power over ethernet. The wireless will require power from an outlet and the PoE gets its power through the an ethernet cable to your router. The camera is awesome, I can move it and zoom from my cellphone.

If you are trying to zoom in you need something with an optical zoom. If you are zooming in digitally it's going to get grainy especially with a 2MP camera.

Which is what?

Are you trying to zoom live? Or are you trying to zoom in on digital recordings?

Get an extra camera or 2 and zoom them in on smaller areas, which can be easier to zoom

As said....

Digital zoom = grainy
Optical zoom= sharp

Even with optical zoom, if you are zooming in on recorded video it will still be grainy. You have to already have it zoomed in before the recording to keep it sharp.

Im using a little $250 hikvision 1080 fixed lens with built in IR to 30 meters with motion based edge recording on a 128GB micro SD. IP66 outdoor rating. Unfortunately the security integration racket in this country makes it difficult for end users to acquire.

I have a channel I can acquire through.

Tri-ed, Anixter whatever they are calling themselves this week. Unless you have an account with lots of volume their pricing isn't much better.
