I just switched to Apple from Android and my contacts are a mess. Anyone got any tips or programs to help with consolidation and cleanup?

Were they a mess before? Or just because you switched to the iPhone?

They were not a mess. It looks like it combined the ones from my itunes account I used with my old iphone 3GS with my ones from google.

hmmm. I know Apple has an android app that can assist you in transferring things like contacts from your android phone to your iPhone. I believe it's called "Switch to iPhone"

Look at the groups that the phone is using for contacts. It's in the top left corner of the contacts section of the phone app. Since you're coming from Android I assume all you'll need are your Gmail contacts.

Go to settings>iCloud and turn off contacts.
Or go to settings>Mail>accounts>Gmail and turn off contacts.
Whichever ones you want to keep.

It may help to sync everything to one account and then review and delete on a computer. Essentially, you could move the contacts to the correct accounts (assuming you have personal and work contacts stored). Much easier than trying to edit/delete on the phone.

there is an app that i used to clean mine up called Easily Do. I have iphone, but it may be on android too. cleared out duplicates and lets you merge info pretty easily.
