Looking for a new phone on the Google Fi Network. I don't need the highest end phone. Mostly use it for web browsing and listening to music/podcast other then the normal texting and phone calls.

Have a Nexus 6p at the moment, but can tell the battery is going downhill.

Any reason other then the camera I would go with a Pixel 3 over the G7 for 200 dollars more?

FYI, Google is having a sale today and tomorrow on pixel 3s and Moto G7. Pixel 3s are half off certain models.

I had a couple of G4s a few years ago between a Nexus 4 and Pixel OG.

$200 unlocked at Best Buy. Lost the first one and bought the second. Lost the second and bought the Pixel because of Verizon free 2 year financing.

No complaints, it was much better than the Nexus 4, because of tech updates, but not as good as the Pixel.

I currently have a Moto Z4 because of an irrational moment at a mall kiosk

All that being said, if you don't mind a mediocre camera (ie you are not creating videos or photo content for a living) then Moto is a worthy budget option. There is very little difference between Moto OS and pure Google you get on a Pixel. In fact, Moto has a few features that are better like shake for flashlight, 3 finger screenshots, and notifications.

After also being suckered into an iPad from the mall kiosk and trying iOS for the first time, I will be buying an iPhone or going back to Pixel for my next device. I have learned that a superior camera is worth the premium price, for me.

I have the G7 on Fi. For a simple smart phone, it's fine. But the camera absolutely sucks on it, and my wife constantly complains about the sound quality on her end when I call her on it. She's the only one that has mentioned the poor call quality, and I don't notice it on my end.

If you take a lot of pics with your phone, I would not get this phone. I don't so it hasn't really been a big deal. After some rebate/promotion deal, I only paid $125 for it though.

I needed to upgrade when my Z Play ran out of space. Could not decide between Pixel and Z4. Found great deal on a Z4 and figured I would like it since the play was so good.

Not happy. The finger print deal on screen is terrible. Wishing I had gone with a Pixel now.

I have a G7 Power. Battery lasts forever. Charges fast too. I side loaded the camera app from the Google Pixel and the phone is sweet now. Not bad for $240

I saw some of these complaints in the online reviews. For whatever reason my thumbprint reader works fine. If I am sweaty or hit it at an angle it may not work, and I usually have to hold it in place for what seems like an extra second, but it still works.

Maybe I got whatever the opposite of a lemon is because it does seem like a common issue for others.

Is that something a non tech person can do without breaking their phone?

Yes. I'm pretty non tech. You change the settings to allow unknown sources for the browser you are using on your phone.

Download the apk and it will install.
GCam_6.2.030_N7P_test1.3a.apk is the one you want found on this page at the very top GCam apk for Moto G7 Power

I installed it yesterday on my grandmother's phone in minutes. It gives the camera Night Sight where you can take a pic in damn near darkness and it looks like you used a flash. Pretty neat.

Be sure to turn off motion photos (top icon, second from left, looks like a circle)

You only have to turn it off once. It doesn't work on most phones from what I understand.

Fair warning about that - you'll want to update that app manually every so often or it gets buggy and crashy
