Thinking about getting a Surface for my wife. She uses my gaming laptop on occasion to use with her Cricut machine and some work from home type stuff through Cisco Anyconnect. Anyone that has experience with them and which version would be a good option?

just saw one on FB marketplace for 450. THAT is a steal. if anything, you're buying an insane tablet

I bought a Surface Pro 7 recently and it is a great device....BUT I will say do NOT order from Microsoft whatever you do.
I did and I originally got a bad device....it would freeze up often and after having it 2 days it bricked itself. I sent it back to them for an exchange on 5/22 and am still waiting for my replacement. Their customer service sucks arse.

I'm looking between the 6 and 7 right now and thinking maybe getting a top of the line 6 is better than getting a more basic 7.

I love my surface4. I rarely use it as a tablet, though. It’s my main computer and I have a dock to two monitors so when I use it, it’s a 3 monitor set up. Been having it for 3+ years, no issues.

Guess I'll be the contrarian. I've had the Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 4 and had issues with both.
Not a fan of the Surface Pro line at all. No experience with Surface Book.

Best laptop I have ever owned. Get it from Costco and you get the whole bundle.

It's now business day 14 and I have still yet to receive my replacement.
I talked to a guy yesterday and he said he had to escalate the issue to "Tier 2" because the exchange process "stalled". He couldn't give me a definition of "the process is stalled" much less tell me why it happened. He also told me that there was no way to hold Microsoft accountable for this mistake that he did admit was not my fault but Microsoft's fault.
Again DO NOT buy a Surface from Microsoft...buy it from Best Buy or something like that.

What kind of issues?
The 2 couldn't handle half of the excel files I use. Crashed every single day.
The 4s screen glitched horribly if left on for more than 12 hours.

Same issue for me. I definitely wouldn’t recommend for intermediate or power excel users.
It’s also unreasonably slow in general. When I move a single file into the trash can it “thinks” for several seconds before it can process the move.
I get the blue screen with the sideways frowny face every two weeks or so usually on startup but sometimes in the middle of work,
Everyone at my work has the surface as their main rig and we all have the above problems.
I would never buy one.
