My company did this almost 3 yrs ago. It sucked at first, but you get use to it.

At first it was worse b/c it would add a new [External] everytime it was responded to, so it would push the subject out of small window visio. So I bitched about it hoping it would kabosh the holy project....didnt. But they did stop it for like 3months until they figured out how to stop that, and i'm sure some other things. BUT they kept me in the 'beta' group as I came off as a good Q/A guy ie "picky mf bitch", so I really never got a break from it like others did Ha! I asked them if they could just tag the top of each response with "from an external email" that I have seen done by others. No go there.

I have been told I could have my email removed from the list since I'm in the position i'm in, but emails get moved around so much that it's not going away if it just my emails.

Eventually it becomes pretty much a normal thing, so not sure what good it does anymore. I essentially delete it, and replace with internal or to nothing to sidebar internally.

Anyway....I didnt read all the pages, and but there is a "related conversation" option that I feel works better than search. I have like 35k+ emails in my inbox alone though, so search gets problematic.

We have Salesforce too, and i've come to the realization that all have quirks that once found...you just got to work around them.

just tried this, and it actually works. the only issue i see now is that you have to search, pull out the advanced search or search tools interface into a seperate window, search specifically as you mentioned and then it pulls all emails with that exact subject line and displays them in a box below with no preview pane so you have to open all the emails individually to read their content as opposed to the functionality of performing this in your regular inbox which would list them all and allow you to preview the body content.

This will work for now, thanks for your suggestion! Wish there was a more convenient option, however. Already discussing upgrading to 2016 or 365 with some higher ups.
I posted this shite on page 1. You were too busy picking fights

No you don't have to do all that. Literally just type subject:"subject of email" in the search bar. That's it.
Not any more time consuming than what you used to do.

I don’t think that is what he was trying to do, he was asking for a method to allow him to sort excluding the leading characters [External]. But you are correct that subverting security policies is usually punishable with termination as the highest possible result.

Don't be a moron.

I was having a long and tiring day and took it out on the guy I responded to, I apologized later for some of my remarks. While it is a true statement if a person is selling their services publicly and has indeed happen, it was a pointless statement.

i didn't realize the importance of the quotes. i thought you were just telling me to search for the subject not put it in quotes.

had i of known that i wouldn't have had to pick so many fights with the idiots in here who were thinking i was trying "circumvent security measures and sabotage my entire company" !
