Anyone who has a MacBook want to share their thoughts about it? Currently have an HP pavilion that will have to be sent off to fix bc there is damage to the hard drive. Is upgrading to a MacBook worth it over sending this one off to get fixed for up to $500?

My last lap top was a macbook, this time I went with a surfacebook and I like it way more. If you are already spending quite a bit for a mac I'd look into the surfacebook as well just to see if you might like it more.

8+ year old MacBook which I replaced the HDD with a SSD and works like a charm. I would recommend the Mac over the pc laptop. Now desktop different story however I have been looking into the hackintosh Mac desktop build.

How old is the computer? They're fricking raping you if they're saying it's $500 to get fixed. You can do it yourself in about 15 minutes for $50

I probably wouldn't get any laptop fixed for 500 bucks.

Are you referring to a specific Mac or just all of the MacBook variants? The truth is that with smart buying and a little more diligence you can probably get Mac performance or better for less money in a PC. People will differ over reliability, but I'm sure a good PC can be made to last as long/longer.

All that said, we're exclusively macbooks over here except for a work Lenovo that's a pile of shite. I don't want to have to diagnose problems or figure out why some quirk is happening, and with macs I usually don't. Some people will claim Macs are just so much better and easier to use and I don't know if I agree. I take care of my PCs and I've rarely had issues that aren't resolved quickly. But I have had a lot more annoying issues with PCs over the years with Macs. Not sure if that is worth the premium to you, but for a lot of people it is.

This x1000

I love my MacBook Pro (mid-2014 15"). Recently tested a few other machines for work and the Google Pixelbook (running Chrome OS) is a very cool convertible machine. Also the Surface Laptop is very good hardware, been testing that one too.

I looked hard at a Macbook, but ended up with the Surface Laptop. It was better specs for about $500 less.

An important question - what do you use your laptop for? I have 2 macbook air laptops - 2011 and 2013. Both work great.

What’s the review on the surface laptop 2?

If I could just have access to my iCloud calendar, documents and desktop on a pc. I may be open to looking at them instead of the MacBook Air
