Is there one worth a damn that's less than $1000? Don't care so much about battery life or hard drive space as much as Ram.

How much RAM do you want, and what are you trying to do with the machine?

I am still running my 2011. Increase the RAM and put in an SSD. Still works great. Point being, spend a little more and upgrade it over time. It will pay off over the long run.

My 2010 MacBook Pro lasted 10 years. Switched to a SSD about three years ago which greatly improved the performance. If the damn number keys wouldn’t have stopped working it would still be rolling. Bought a MacBook Air earlier this year.

MacBook Air - $999

Bought my wife one back in the spring when she started working from home. He have an old Mac Mini that she was having trouble with and decided she wanted to go back to a laptop. She loves it. Great battery life and it is fast.

Costco currently has $350 off a MacBook Air.

That's the Intel version, I'd stay away from that even at $350 off. The Intel Air's run hot with terrible thermals.

I have the 2019 version with Intel (8th generation, I believe) with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage.

I’ve had to reset the SMC once as my fan stayed on. Since then, I’ve had no issues whatsoever.

For the price, I think it is a very “good” buy. Also, with Costco, the buyer will receive an extra one year warranty on top of manufacturer’s warranty.

Apple...upgrade....

Nothing is user upgradeable in the new MacBooks.

This is true. You can’t upgrade the RAM anymore. Not sure if you can replace the hard drives in the newer models but you probably wouldn’t need to with cloud storage.
