With cyber Monday deals today, I’m looking to buy a 65 inch TV. Looking for one with a 120 refresh rate around $1000.
Not much of a tech guy so if anyone comes across something that looks good, let me know. TIA

the 2020 tcl series 6 and the hisense h9 are both around that price and have very good reviews. i have a tcl and love it.
a 2019 tcl series 6 should be around $700 and the 2020 around $900 so don't get fooled into paying more for last year's model which I don't think is true 120hz.
ultimatehog can tell you more.

This is why I posted here. I don’t know what that means, but I definitely want a true 120hz

the current generation TCL series 6 and H9G(?) from Hisense both do 120, support HDR and dolbyvision and have some pretty great hardware features for handling colors & blacks.
you should be able to pick up the 2020 TCL series 6 in a 65" for just under $1K. I think hisense is about the same price.
The reviews seems to indicate its a wash as to which is the better set but if you like the roku UX, definitely get the TCL.

People keep saying this but I think they are cheap and crappy. Not trying to argue, I just feel like they are "loved" due to the price point. And thats it.
I hate the TCL remote for instance and compared to other TV's their smart interface is not good to me.
I have only used them elsewhere I don't own one, so I may be talked out of it. But what do you honestly love about them?
Also, China yada yada

well i'm comparing it to an older 4K vizio and lots of shitty 1080p TVs from years ago. here's what i love
- startup from time you flip 'on' to tv menu is maybe 5 seconds. my vizio takes like 15-20 seconds and sometimes it goes into a boot loop and i have to turn it off/on like 3x to get it to work
- roku ux is fantastic. simple & elegant and i like that you can 'see' whats showing in the menu on other sources (i can see the xbox welcome screen is displaying on hdmi1 for instance)
- remote is great, it has voice control mic button and its RF so the soundbar blocking the IR eye doesn't annoy me and i dont have to hold the remote over my head & aim it down at the tv to get it to respond
- roku app is great; i can pause and play using alexa voice commands and in addition to the app acting like a virtual remote, you can plug in headphones into your phone and listen to the tv sound through the phone
- roku gets preferential treatment with apps due to how popular the platform is so you're not using some manufacturer-specific smart tvs apps that are shitty and die on the vine (looking at you, vizio)
granted most of what i just mentioned is due to roku and not TCL but a tv with roku built in is > than a roku stick.
eta and yes. china. yada yada

Just got a 5 series and have no problem admitting that I love it 100% based on price. I think for $650 a 65” 4K dolby vision tv is a great deal. I had to return the first one for a defective panel (which I knew was a possibility, but the second one is perfect).
I have it set up with a 5.1 Klipsch surround sound system with a harmony remote so i don’t use the tcl remote.
But yea, price is the reason I love it. I could get a much better tv, but I personally don’t see the difference being worth it (at this time) I’m sure in the future I’ll move into OLED etc..

I pulled the trigger on a 65" 6 series today. 899 then 5% off, then 2% back on rakuten plus their $40 intro offer. Pretty good deal.
