Looking at this TV to replace living room set. Thoughts on Hisense ULED

We watch mostly sports and tv/movies through roku. Replacing a 7 year old Samsung. This price seems pretty great. Just worried b/c hisense is kinda a budget brand. best buy link

It is a budget brand but that's also a budget friendly price. It's probably the best mini-LED on the market at that price. The TCL 6 series is close as well.
If you're concerned about it being poor quality I would go over the AVSForum and read through the U8H owners thread. You'll get more insight from people who own it than here. They have a 153 page thread right now. Although just a warning, people who are unhappy are far more likely to post than those who are happy. Almost every thread there is people complaining.

Hisense and TCL are not only made in China but are wholly owned by the CCP.
Nice TVs out of the box. But buy one and post here in two years. Panels don’t have long legs.

Bought a TCL 4 series in 2018 and have 0 complaints about it. Watch it daily for regular TV shows/streaming.
Know several other people with the same experience. I think it comes down to expectations. They're not premium TVs but most people probably can't tell the difference anyway.

Rtings has the U8 a bit above the TCL series 6, but for 300$ lower at the time I got the TCL 6 google tv and just slapped a roku ultra on it. Incredible picture quality for the prices.

I have the 55" U8H series. Very happy, so far.
