I have a 65” LG TV, purchased 2019, top of the line at the time, and an LG SL8YG sound bar , Dolby Atmos, with wireless sub. Sub is plugged directly into TV using HDMI, set to ARC. Over the past few weeks I’ve been noticing the bass cuts out every 20 seconds or so, just for a moment, and I get what sounds like static from the sub at times, especially on Disney+, but also on you tube and HBO. Do I just need to buy a new sound bar? Is there a fix for this? Thanks TD

Anytime there is a sound issue for equipment with built in amps (like in a soundbar, or receiver) the first thing I look for is insufficient ventilation, which leads to overheating PDQ. That can be a major factor in signal cutoff like you're experiencing.

Does the soundbar have proper clearances around it (above *and* behind?) What about the sub?

ETA: Check heat first, then RF (or BT or however it connects) interference. You have an alarm keypad, iPad, Alexa, etc. nearby?

Try changing the type of signal it sends I think it’s pcm or digital and something else. Sometimes that fixes cutting out issues I’ve had with sound bars/receivers and TVs

So it's not a heat issue, it has clearance all around.

I will try changing the signal type, but need to make sure it can still get into Dolby Atmos

I'm confused about this..Why would the sub be plugged into anything besides power

the bars job is to detect atmos...

Try updating the TV and/or the soundbars firmware..You could also see if your TV supports eArc and enable that...

Sorry if i was unclear, the sub and soundbar are hard wired, I choose not to use bluetooth. And it is set up with E-ARC which automatically finds the best connection. My TV says it is up to date in software

Probably not a flaw in the speaker, but the software.

Sometimes, it's just a software update. I occasionally get this on my PC. Sound is fine, then all of the sudden it's staticky. When that happens a reboot solves it. While that's fine for something like a PC, I can see how it would be annoying for a TV/Soundbar.

This is an issue I have also with my LG atmos 5.1 system. I think it's just the wifi doing it.

Let me know if you figure anything out.

So I am an idiot. I thought the sub was directly connected to the soundbar, but it was not, it was through bluetooth. I moved the sub to the other side of my TV as well as unplugged the TV.....so far, it has eliminated the crackling noise from the sub, and i did not hear it "skip" as it has been doing.

My sub is on side of the couch, hidden. I wouldn't know where else to put it. Our TV is over the fireplace.
