Getting a new office renovated this month, we want to put LED strip lighting along the top crown but we aren't sure what to order. The 3 rooms have LF lengths of 50', 75' and 45' but I see LED strips have trouble running in lengths past 16.4'? so we have to buy a larger power supply?

Just not sure what to get..

We can have an electrician hardwire it in.. just need to know what to order.

If anyone knows about this let me know. Thanks

hue is the correct answer.

hue is the only answer.

you'll hate yourself later if you don't get hue. a little pricier but (a) you won't burn your house down with cheap chinese LED strips and (b) hue is bad-arse.

LINK

you can use IFTTT to automatically change to purple and gold whenever LSU is playing football on tv, or blue when its about to rain or change color when its going to be above or below a certain temperature outside...

loads of fun

oh, each hue strip can be extended to 10 meters (about 33 feet) and i don't think there's anything on the market that can go longer than that safely.

you would just want to make sure your electrician provides access to power every 30 feet or so since you'll be adding additional strips.

First off, what the frick happened to you? Second, just a little?

I've got maybe 25' I want to do and I'm thinking I'd rather get a zwave controller and some decent strips. Heard of anyone having issues with connecting an RGBW controller to Wink?

If you are just looking for it as an accent light (no rgb or smart functions) i would go with a tape/rope hybrid. American lighting makes a good one

I confess I have a cheap Chinese strip connected to an ihome plug as well but you can only change colors using the shitty remote. It's nothing like the hue strip.

Oh and I did get all my Hue strips for like 90% off at home Depot clearance sale

I've been holding off on the Hue strip. Just saw if you order through Alexa you can get a strip for $67. Order placed

Let me know if you have any extra light strips, I'd be interested. I have been itching to buy some but can't justify the price.

anyone who is interested in the strips, be aware you'll need the hue hub first.

I've already got a few Hue Lights and a hub setup. Are you willing to part with any of the light strips?

It won't work with any other hubs? Like the Wink Hub, etc? Man, damn these companies.

you could have gotten the hub starter kit + 3 white bulbs for like $60 yesterday on amazon.

yeah it sucks it needs its own hub, but i gotta say, the hue hub has been ROCK SOLID since i set it up.

i ran the v1 hub (round) forever without a single hiccup and only upgraded to the v2 hub (square) because i got several of the starter kits on clearance at home depot.

you don't need a v2 hub for anything except maybe apple homekit. i think even alexa now works correctly with the v1 hub..for awhile you needed the v2 hub to change colors but not anymore.

junkyfunky gets first dibs assuming he is still interested. i need to actually look and see what i have. i know i have tons of the 1 meter extension strips.

Can you move hue light strips once they are in place? Or are they sort of a forever until removed situation?

they come with sticky tape on them but i've moved mine & just used some 3m double sided tape. not a big deal, they are only sticky once so after you move them you'll need something to make them stick again.
