LED "flourescent tubes" vs whole light fixture replacement

Home Depot Feit 48" LED tube replacements $15
LINK
I'll need 4 for each fixture and there are 6 in my son's basement drop ceiling so that's $360 to do the whole room
vs.
$60 for an 'all-in-one' replacement fixture that you just swap out, also would cost $360 for the whole room.
LINK
My gut tells me for the same price it's probably better to get the all-in-one and swap out that 1980s era shite-ballast flourescent fixture completely.

Costco 4 packs are $45 (11.25 each). I don't remember seeing a nice whole light fixture there, just the shop light style.

i'm guessing if you swap the whole fixture they're not committed to 4 individual tubes; rather they can let the LED lighting determine the form factor within the box itself.
so i would think it would be a better light than trying to retro fit LEDs to a dated 1970s flourescent 'tube' mentality/model.
but i can't find enough reviews to form an opinion.

I purchased those bulbs for my kitchen. They work great. However, I think I remember reading that they may not work with all ballasts. I took a chance and it worked.
I've also installed the replacement box in a storage room. Again, they work great, but are LED strips in a fixture, that if go out, you have to replace the fixture.

3 of the 6 ballasts in my son's basement bedroom are failing so maybe i would save myself some trouble (and answer my own question) by simply replacing the entire fixture.

I got some of these that install without the ballast. Just rewire existing fixture and remove ballast. Easy to do. LINK tp T8 with free ship

I bought a 10 pk of these two weeks ago at home depot for $69 bucks. Must have been on sale. So far so good.

Just pulled it up on their website. What I bought is Feit 32W equivalent T8 replacements. The reviews are so/so but it appears that its mostly because they may not work with every ballast type. I changed all the lights in 4 fixtures and every one worked so I guess I lucked out.

I bought six of these for my outside workshop
LINK
They are great and those were the cheapest I found. Just cut out the ballasts and hard wire the sockets at the end to the wires coming into the fixture. Took 5 minutes for each and it was much easier than buying completely new fixtures.

nice find. best price yet. did you go for 6k, 5k or 4k on the color?
i need some for my garage/workshop and also for my son's room. 24 T8 lightbulbs is a bit much for his room

yes i was planning to bypass the ballast but wasn't sure how easy it is to just cap the wires. i'm guessing its not too bad.
$18/light is definitely much better than $60 replacing the entire fixture or overpriced LED tubs.

I got the 6k. They are very bright, perfect for a workshop.
For the ballast, I literally cut each of them out, then wired each side of the fixture to the original power supply lines. Very easy, tons of videos on Youtube.
