Since my latest move several years ago, I have not had a desktop or laptop handy, so I was thinking this might work for me. I have an old Surface, but it's more computery than I want for this job.

Ah yeah if i didn't have a laptop I might could see using a tablet more. I do find tablets more cumbersome to type on which is probably also a contributor for me just grabbing my laptop instead when i want a bigger screen than my phone.

If you definitely want a laptop then go Chromebook. It’s Cheap, and super easy to use. And it doesn’t have all the extra things that really aren’t needed to just surf the web.

Tablets are even easier to use and you can set up any apps they may want to use (like FaceTime). It also gives older people a little bit more protection because you can’t really download anything to it. It stops a bunch of the scams of people letting you remote in. Basically they would only have to worry about clicking links in email and entering their own info in a spoofed page.
