This phone is a piece of shite. I donno why I got it. Seriously, the face ID shite only works when it actually knows it's upright. The phone had a lot of static noises when I was speaking with separate people (design flaw there). It won't even upgrade to the newest OS for me for some reason. I'm switching to android next time
Sounds like user error to me bro.

In a world where technology is supposed to improve over time, adding a second that wasn't previously there is a problem.

I don't have an X but based on that gif he posted it sure looks like a lateral move to me. You go from a Double Click the home button gesture to an up and over gesture.

Added a second
Face ID removes many more
And the added second is functional because people complained they would too often close apps they were trying to switch to
I’ve had this thing for a couple of days and I hated my 6 plus...the iPhone X is fricking awesome. Is it worth the $$$ for a lot of people probably not, but it’s intuitive, fast, smooth, looks good and the Face ID is not only flawless it reads my face from a decent distance instantaneously it seems

The Face ID to unlock is so much quicker

Have you used Apple Pay yet? I've heard some people say it's awkward because you have to double click the power button to activate which seems like a stupid complaint. Surely it auto-activates when it detects an NFC card machine? You can bring up Apple Pay on older phones by quick double clicking the home button, but I can't think of a situation where I've ever actually done that on purpose to activate Apple Pay.

The Face ID is so good for me. The finger scan was a 50/50 proposition for me on the 6 plus

One other thing that sounds stupid but keeps popping into my head
The weight. Feels perfect in my hand

FACE ID wasn't even out a month before the one plus 5t (a budget phone) made face unlocking much quicker and easier.

i'm not saying apple invented it. i didn't even know this thing had face id until i was doing the setup. i just bought this online because i needed a new phone because my 6 plus was buggy and increasingly frustrating me. went with the x over the other new one because it looked sleeker.
had no idea it would be this good. i wasn't excited for it even when it came. i just started using it and after a day i thought "holy shite this phone is awesome"

Oh and the battery is the best one I’ve had on an iPhone

There’s rarely a good reason to need to “close” any apps, and for the average user it likely decreases battery life. Wouldn’t be surprised if high level people at Apple purposefully decided to make closing apps ‘less easy’.

This is one thing that I definitely feel is an upgrade. Apple Pay works much better with Face ID and double click the power button.
To Fox, Face ID saves no time for me. Actually, I think it’s slower than fingerprint, which was flawless. An extra step to close apps may only take a second, but it shows a greater problem that apple is currently experiencing across all devices with their UI and design changes. There comes a point where thinner and lighter, just to be thinner and lighter becomes a problem. Having an edge to edge screen, just to say you have one is pointless.
The notch actually doesn’t bother me one bit.

Face ID rocks, even opens my apps that required thumb before like Capital One.
Battery is gotten very good. Had my phone out taking pics for FBD last night, left it unplugged and had 93% this morning.

quote:don't worry, neither Apple nor Google invented it. Both bought other companies that did though. In fact, Google bought a company called PittPatt back in 2011. Way back then, in 2011, Andy Rubin stated that Google had to "slow down" the face unlock process that PittPatt invented, because people did not believe actual security was happening.
i'm not saying apple invented it.
Pretty interesting that 6 years later, super fast face unlock is now a thing.

This is one thing I was worried about moving away from TouchID, all the apps that used it for locks which I really liked. Thankfully pretty much all of them worked with FaceID instead right away.

I'm just saying why is it a budget phone can be smart enough to unlock your phone via face without having to swipe up every single time yet apple can't seem to?

what happened to the button? you know the one button Apple fan boys said was needed and any phone without a home button just wount be as good?
