Its all coming together now - HA Television Networks!

Television station schedule creation is going gangbusters now.
hardware - magic S3A miniPC running debian/chromium in permanent kiosk mode with espy ReSpeaker XMOS XVF3800 'alexa disk' far field mic for 100% control. no touchscreen, no keyboard, everything is on a schedule or voice commands. he's wanting a much bigger tv than mine; maybe 50" or 65" so this is going to look incredible even across the room.
TV schedule set and show building well under way
ChatGPT sends me ZIP files that i drag and drop over a "run me" cmd file that extracts and builds the TV shows.
ChatGPT keeps all knowledge stored across a series of image repositories and spreadsheets on gDrive; the Bible, MDs and 'brain' of the whole thing.
Total token cost for both of those: ZERO,
The 'test' you see in upper right corner is our compromise so we're not going down a rabbit hole tweaking a million things that we can never sustain. i had to quite making it 'perfect' and leave it a little 'fuzzy' so we can crank these out and not fall into a trap where AI goes off the rails on one tweak and then we've spent 6 hours trying to fix one little box while it breaks 17 other things.
I have keyboard shortcuts to change those items you see in real time (plus more test screens that select complimentary hues for the ticker background, etc.) when i'm done i just take screen shots of them and it bakes in those changes.
simple and effective to tweak each show and we never go down another rabbit hole again. if a show is built that i just absolutely hate; i'll ask it to generate a new one before we do a single thing.
The tv station 'bug' gets birthday treeatments on birthday (little hb banner and colorful flags..very subtle) and that birthday bumper is added between shows (top of the hour bumper rotation) and pulls 'lore' for that person that fades in and out on that screen "X fell on the playground and broke his arm when he was 5"
we have about 30 external sources and 3 or 4 'variations' of the "morning show" so word of the day, dad joke of the day, good news of the day...the database keeps growing. we randomly pick from that bucket so you never see the same 3 or 4 cards twice.
the background will be one of the reolink camera views of the smokey mountains instead of that test. we wanted to verify a live video feed would still work with scrolling tickers, etc. overlayed and it passed with flying colors.
The voice control includes all things. "Show me the Afternoon Energy Workout". "Save this screenshot" (calls reolink api and grabs a 4K still of the bear breaking into his car or maybe a gorgeous sunset). If we have multi cameras displayed at the time "Save north camera screenshot" and it grabs it in 4K instead of a thumbnail or trying to take a pic of the TV with your phone.
The genius part of going ahead & connecting the mic puck is that pretty much 100% of what i'm doing to test the TV shows are also what he'll do when its live..iow i'm proving out the initial list of voice commands we're going to start with; pretty much nothing will be discarded and i don't have to have some silly phone app to try to push different tv shows to the display while i'm testing. that miniPC is a no-go zone now unless it crashes. even then i would just hit the power button and it will come right back up.
AMA, i'm almost weaned off codex and 'work mode' entirely now. My token inventory is back up to almost 100%.
HA is now simply the middleware; there's not a single line of YAML. All the fades, bumpers, TV shows, etc. are straight up HTML carefully matched to a very exacting set of TV show rules that means I am getting consistent TV shows without everything looking identical.
the entire system including all proxmox vms, etc. are backed up at 3am every night to my PC and i finally broke down about bought 2 cheap used 3TB hitachi spin drives so i can provision the 2 terramaster NAS enclosures and i'll make that into a secondary backup location. eventually..one day...we'll rip that out and put in 4 20TB drives but who the hell knows when that will ever happen with 20TB drives costing $1000 right now.
This one little video really doesn't do it justice to what we've got going on here. Its absolutely perfect.
ETA all sound effects 'free' libraries on the internet SUCK DONKEY BALLS. so i'm back to using YT -> MP3 to get really high quality melodies and sfx like the "Dolby Atmos" preroll sound effect when the TV goes through the 'boot sequence' in the morning (which is a bunch of manual toggles being flipped up trigger yellow bulbs above each like an old airplance cockpiot
each with a differetn aspect "PROXMOX HYPERVISOR ONLINE", "SECURITY SYSTEM ONLINE"..followed by a fade to a fullscreen logo of his house synchronized with the Dolby riff. Screw IP. This is all local so i'm not going to settle for "adobe's free shitty sfx library". it can be anything i want. ETA2 Aaron Detiger your hurricane HACS integration made the cut! there's a special "Hurricanes around the world today" show that comes up when there's any activity

99% accurate but it mischaracterized completely the reason I wanted to wean off codex reliance which is because being charged tokens to use that feature meant this project was impossible even at the $100mo tier because of the complexity involved in creating the tv shows. Before I would run codex to build one iteration of a show "pilot" and in 10 minutes I was out of tokens for the week.

That sounds insane until you decompose what we've actually done.

without the input of MUCH SMARTER folks on this board especially regarding how to leverage AI and various software and hardware decisions, this would never have happened.
if this was a for-fee project i would have to be revenue sharing with half a dozen posters on this board because i had no idea what i was doing 6 moths ago and would have made a dozen bone-headed poorly researched decisions by now.
just look at the jellyfish thread--i was thinking govee was the better option and quite frankly, had never heard of WLED but after that suggestion was made i was like HOLY shite THATS IT!!
again, WITHOUT THIS BOARD most of this project would have sucked.

in the middle of Game Show Hour and i'm inventing new games to add to the BGA games we're going to display.
I just came up with "Robot vacuum hide-and-seek"
3 robots, 3 floors of the house. when game show hour is on, i'll send one of those robots into a room and have it pause and then when someone walks by the tv they will see "Where is that naughty robot vacuum?" and can guess both room and floor. if they get it, the live map will display showing its location and say "aww you found me!" and the robot will unpause and go back to its base.
come on baws! give me some more unhinged ideas. i'm testing this on my own setup right now and will report back on how it went.

Speaking of..
I have a whole library of smart device games now. One of my favorites "Drop Daddy's Temperature" where the kids have 5 minutes to figure out a way to drop the current energy consumption by 5%* *or whatever threshold I find that will work.
Eta forgot to mention I brought reddy kilowatt back to life and animated him as the emcee for this one
And I've engaged all 3 robot vacs in the game now. "You found where robot X was hiding but robot Y is also hiding so can you find robot Y before robot X returns home?"
Having trouble with the BGA (board game arena) integration so I'm not going to make that a focal point anymore. The security camera games, family trivia and the endless supply of smart appliances mean I've got a library of games already in the books.
Another one "I'm using x kilowatts of electricity right now. Who am I?" and they will have to figure out if it's the washing machine, water heater or dishwasher....
You ask CAD to help you install a couple of Ethernet jacks in your new house and this is the crap you wind up with.
