Nothing you can do other than find a new carrier.
I had similar issue when I moved from Atlanta to Memphis. Couple I bought from had their service end at months end. I took ownership on the 14th. AT&T was unable to hook my cable and internet up because the previous owners still technically had their service on.
I had to wait until their service was up before they could set mine up.

Can you not do the install yourself if you already have the router/modem and the service is already transferred? It's not that hard
