I will say that I’m already used to not having the home button and the Face ID has been perfect and fast. Much better than I was expecting. I thought I would prefer the 8+ but I’m really happy with the X.

Boom

Anyone have trouble activating? Did you use new sim or sim from old phone?

Bigger screen, smaller phone more comfortable in hands, Face ID, better display, better front camera, and just a hell of lot better looking phone imo.

Well worth the $200 to me. Different strokes I reckon

There are $200 phones out there that have fingerprint sensors. I don't give a crap about Face ID. It's a step back from Touch ID and even slower then Samsung's iris scanner. Going from a one step process to a two step process to unlock your phone makes absolutely no sense.

Sort of. I think the camera on the iPhone X is 2.4/f vs. 2.8/f but yea, pretty damn close.

I can’t activate. I’ll keep trying but I have to work in a few hours so I might just wait until tomorrow.

This is true. I was skeptical of Face ID but even if it works flawlessly you still have to actually swipe up with your fingers on the screen.

Makes no sense.

I popped my sim from the 7+ and put it into the X, done, working.

Hm. I’ve tried both sims and neither will activate.

I got it to get me to the screen that verifies your phone number but it gives the same message after.

This was my thought until I saw reviewers testing it out. The finger swipe is important to keep from accidentally unlocking your phone.

I’m still surprised by how fast it works. It appears to be as fast as a finger scanner, which I did not think it would be.

Right but the point is even if works perfectly you've gone from a one step process to a two step process. It's a regression.

Apple tried to get a finger print sensor on there. Them acting like you don't need it is just spin because they couldn't get it to work/yield well enough. I worry that they might spin FaceID hard enough to actually kill TouchID instead of bringing it back in the next X. This isn't the floppy disk or the headphone jack. It was a central UI element that everyone understood and worked very well.

I guess to an extent it is a regression. I’m not concerned with losing the fingerprint scanner, but I can see why people are.

I’m more excited to see where FaceID leads us. It will be a gen or two before it really takes off from a third party standpoint, but it could be fascinating.
