I second this. Email push settings paired with a low cell signal in my office building kills my battery pretty quickly. Changed the settings to only fetch when I open the app and never had a problem since.

I may have to think about adjusting this. Outlook is my biggest % user. I get 200-300 emails a day. While I think that's probably the biggest culprit, I find a hard time believing it killed my battery 35% in 2 hours.

I hate Apple, but I can typically go a couple days without charging on my 7. That being said, I use the default apps for anything and rarely browse the internet on it.

I read that Google chrome destroys iPhone battery life.

Try force stopping all apps and restart the phone. My X started draining faster this past week but restarting fixed it. I use my phone off and on all day from 5am and when I leave work at 5pm I typically still have 60%-70% with no charging all day.

66% at 11:23. Vast improvement from yesterday. Looks like closing everything out and restarting did the trick. Something left open was draining the shite out of my battery.

Push means you get the email on your phone as soon as it hits the email server. Manual connects with the server to check for new email every 15-30 minutes.

So manual should theoretically save battery?

If you get a lot of emails, probably. If you don't get a lot then the phone is checking with the server every so often for no reason. The amount of power we're talking though is so minuscule I wouldn't worry about it.

"battery power saving mode" I take it this is the switch to go back to the old way of slowing down your phone? Cause I'm sitting here at the genius bar and 100% of the calls have ended with the "genius" turning it on right before the person stands up without asking the owner if they want it or not... Just basically do it and say "this will really help"

My X battery has gone to shite in the past few weeks.. i used to easily get an entire day off of one charge... now, I’m charging by noon. Something definitely changed

No, that's coming in the 11.3 iOS update and will be turned on by default. What the genius is telling them to turn on is "Low Power Mode" which temporarily reduces power consumption by turning off mail fetch, background app refresh, automatic downloads, and reduces motion so the gpu isn't working as hard.

They updated the OS so that it does t slow down your phone to conserve battery. This is what your real battery life looks like. Fwiw my samsung 8 goes all day with reg use and lower screen britness.

Same. I have the S8 and this thing kicks arse. But I never have GPS or bluetooth on unless I need it, and have the normal battery saving on, and this thing can easily go a full day with pretty regular use no problem. There are times when I don't plug it in for two days.

I'm wrapping up day 3 of minimal charging on my Moto x4. The battery last about 2 days, but can charge from 20% to 80% in 15 minutes... So I go weeks without charging the thing at my house (just plug it up in my car on trips home from work ETA: with Waze on mind you)

ETAA: OP just be glad your didn't update your Mac OS this week - 40% of our clients lost all network drive functions this week after the update and had to downgrade back to Sierra

Freaked me out until I realized I already did No issues right now.

Battery on the X has been fine since I closed all apps and restarted. There just must have been something that kept draining left open.

Like I said, only like 40% of my clients. It's been a good week for me (because I charge people for work) but bad for them
