iPhone keeps disconnecting from Carplay

I keep my phone plugged into Carplay via USB cable. But almost every time the phone moves it disconnects from Carplay for a few seconds before reconnecting. Whether its because I grabbed the phone or hit a rough bump in the road or if the phone slides around in the center console tray I leave it in. Gets a little annoying when Carplay drops out for 5-6 seconds in the middle of a call before it reconnects. I updated iOS to latest version and tried a different USB cable and it hasn't fixed the issue. iPhone 8+ with Carplay in a Chevy Colorado. Anybody else have similar problems or know what can fix it?

I would either try a new cable or bring it in.
Carplay seems to kill my cables.

Mine did that when I had a bad cable. Got a new one with a little reinforcement near the connectors, and it worked like a charm.

I tried a different cable but it was an old one I had laying around at home. My daughter has a fairly new cable from her ipad so I'll try that one to see if it fixes it before I go buy a new one to leave in the truck.

Get one with reinforcement at the connectors as mentioned. Only long term solution.

You may have already done this, but see if the lightning port on the bottom of your phone has something (i.e. pocket lint) in it.
I thought a cable of mine was going bad, since it only seemed to charge in certain positions, but cleaning out the port took care of it.
Edit:
Anker makes the strongest cables I've found. Very good quality.

The one other thing to add is that lightning cables in cars will degrade (the pins will oxidize) faster in a car due to the variety of conditions and higher moisture in a car, meaning you will likely have to replace them more often anyways. The way to tell is if you see an unexpectedly large amount of black marks on the cable pins.

As dumb as it sounds, make sure there isn't a buildup of lint in the lightning port of your phone. I was having this issue and this turned out to be the problem.

I bought some on Amazon that basically had a spring around the wire, just under the connector. That spring reinforces the wire so it doesn't wear down. Just make sure they are MFI Certified.

Like the others said, it's probably pocket lint in your lightning port. I had this issue literally last week.

I'm having this problem too, but in a GMC Sierra. I'll try to clean my iPhone of lint to see if it helps. Other than that I'm not sure what could be the cause. My charging cable is only a few months old.

Spring around the connection is what mine has as well

Did you update your phone to the most recent version of iOS?If I’m not mistaken I read that there was a bug fixed related to this.

These magnetic USB cables are the tits.
Don't try go get fancy and get the ones with the smaller cable/connector, it will drive you nuts.
This one stays plugged into my note 10+ on the dash of my truck and never disconnects. I went through several before landing on the bigger cable. Connector stays on your phone, so you don't wear your port out plugging/unplugging everytime you get in/out.
hey Chrysler, just come out with wireless carplay already
ETA: I have this one but its not available right now
