ipad air 4th gen vs ipad 8th gen

My company reimburses a tablet purchase up to $500 every other year, so I am looking for something that is going to last me two years before inevitably slowing down. I would use it for general web browsing, emails, video chat, and other low level tasks. I do not need cell service on the device and the pen would be of little use to me.
Should I get the air 4th gen with more ram, newer processor, usb-c (all our other devices are usb-c), and probably a longer lifespan for $135 out of pocket with no accessories
OR
the ipad 8th gen with 128g storage and a case or apple care and no money out of pocket?

I have the new Air and I’m really liking it.
From what you are sharing storage and processor is not really important. Instead more important is the display and the FaceTime camera quality (Which is dramatically better with the air). It seems probable that the air will be supported for longer as opposed to the iPad. USB-C support allows the Air to charge much faster in my experience. The squared off body took a bit to get used to for me.
The big advantage of the regular iPad is that the form factor hasn’t significantly changed in years meaning accessory support will be plentiful and cheap.

And if they don;t move they're accused of lack of innovation....

Thanks for y'all's feedback. Thinking the air is the way to go.
