iOS 16 CarPlay issues *SOLVED

Anyone else having issues with CarPlay since the recent software update? I don't know if it's CP or my car, but I haven't been able to connect since I installed iOS 16. I have done all of the usual troubleshooting fixes, and it's driving me mad.
It was my VPN. Had to disable it and it’s back to normal. Hopefully Apple fixes this in the next update.

Mine has been running fine since some of the late 16 dev betas.

Mine works fine
Bonus- my garage door opener button now pops up on the Home Screen when I’m a block or two from home.

What is this witchcraft you speak of? Is that a carplay thing, a car feature, app, tell me more

my guess is he has a HomeKit compatible garage door opener as part of his Home

How are you connecting, cord or Bluetooth?
I updated last night and mine was acting a little odd. Google map was not loading, and Amazon music took a while to come up, just a blank screen.

Damn, did you order right when it opened up? I ordered my Pro Max 45 minutes after it opened and have a mid October date.

Yes.
I can connect but it keeps dropping out.

Have tried both. Wired for initial setup and then you give permission for wireless. Mine just turned on when I got in the car. Now I can't get it to connect at all

I have a “dumb” garage door, opener, and a $40 Meross HomeKit wifi garage door opener adapter. The 3-door version is still affordable ($70).
Setup is very simple- little USB power plug plugs into the spare outlet that my garage door opener has next to it. The instructions show you how to run two little wires into specific numbered clamps based on your specific model of opener, not that different than an old (or current but cheap) stereo. Then you have the option of running a sensor for open/closed status monitoring (and it allows you to set it up so that the magnets next to each other means either “open” or “closed,” but I went ahead and ran the wire all the way down the beam to the door so both magnets are together during the “closed” phase.
Then you adopt the device through HomeKit. I previously used meross smart plugs (non HomeKit version). So I’m not sure if I adopted directly through HomeKit and it just happened to add it to the meross app or if the app is required. I have to do firmware updates through the meross app, but it notifies me in HomeKit when they’re available.
In terms of “getting started” with HomeKit, native stuff is super simple, especially if you have an AppleTV, HomePod, or iPad. If you don’t and aren’t interested in the platforms, then HomeKit isn’t a platform you’ll want to use. But if you’re already using one of those, you’re a few clicks away from ready. HomeKit comparability is more limited than Smartthings or Alexa or Google Home. Fortunately, there is a group that has done a great job adding compatibility to things that aren’t natively supported, and the results have been very good in my experience. The project is called “Homebridge,” and if it makes it your way, you can put your second Raspberry Pi to work (since the first will run PiHole sometime later this week, I’m sure), by downloading the “Hoobs” project and installing it on one. Now, if you installed a straight Linux distro and had a background instance of Homebridge running, that would work, too, and you could actually do both of those on one machine (access would be from any web browser with the IP and the appropriate port for each application)
Once you do all that (the Pi thing and homebridge were just for fun. Not necessary for this part), you can drive and see your garage door opener setting come up when you’re close to home. And if you use homebridge for this, you can invite other HomeKit users to access your home, even temporarily, to let them in, or open your garage door from away (HomeKit is not the only way to do any of that, though).

Damn really?
Yes my daughters 11 has been full and random restarting for 9 months. I convinced her to just wait for the 14 since it was close enough imo. I got on and ordered as soon as it opened up and got the kid and wife one then at&t crashed. Took about 30 for it to start working again and got mine. The kid and wife got shipping info today but mine has not. It still says prepping for shipping and delivery tomorrow so we shall see on mine.

I am all tied into the apple universe with atv, pads, phones, macs so homekit and home bridge are 2 things on the radar. It will be longer than a week tho im still building the new rack. Once it's all wired and running ill start playing with new to me things. I have a MyQ garage door opener, I wonder if thats compatible in some sort of way....
and so I dont muck up Korks thread
