I Think I'm Done with Newegg

TL/DR: Ordered a GPU with 3-day shipping. Will arrive in a week. Newegg won't refund the shipping upcharge.
Been a customer for years, but their shipping and customer service have been in steady decline for a while now.
The latest episode just seals it for me.
Tuesday I ordered a new GPU at 5am with expedited same day processing and 3-Day Business Delivery via UPS.
Keep in mind, they are located in California, so this was closer to 3am for them than 5am.
Product didn't arrive at carrier for two days. My shipping time was adjusted this morning from Thurs-Fri to Mon-Tues.
I'm not going to fly off the handle over a few days, but I'm also not going to pay for 3-day shipping and same day processing if I don't get it.
All I wanted was my $20 or so back and a ,"Sorry we screwed up." Their response, "3-day shipping doesn't include weekends." My response was, "If it left your warehouse on time the weekend wouldn't have been in play." Their response,"Sorry, is there anything else we can help you with?"
As a counterpoint, the monitor I ordered from Amazon this morning will arrive a day before the Newegg order I placed 3-4 days ago.
Love their prices, deals and inventory, but I'm done.

3 years ago, I ordered parts for my son's gaming PC build he had picked out for Xmas. All parts were ordered by Dec with 3 day shipping. Everything arrived in varying time except the case by Dec 20. I called to check and it was confirmed to be enroute and would arrive by Dec 23. After about 6-8 more calls, it arrived around Jan 20.(Over 6 frickin' weeks!) Their response was "Sorry for the delay in shipping". I got no reimbursement for any of the shipping upcharges.

I use shoprunner on that site. Think it's free with Amex. Cant remember though but I got it for free.

I haven't used newegg since 2008. What products do they sell have that gives them a competitive advantage?

I believe they were purchased by China not too long ago, so loss of quality not surprising.

They have a pricing advantage on some things, I assume based on volume. I am building right now and some of their x570 mobos are about 25% less than Amazon.
Still not using them because I've had the same awful shipping issues in the past year.

I love that I have a microcenter near me. They will price match and I get to see the parts in person. Built this for my 12 year old son 3 months ago.

I use microcenter as well. We used to have a Fry's too but they closed down. The people there were never as helpful as the Microcenter folks.

quote:I had one memorable episode with Newegg C/S. The smugness was at a high level. Now I only use them as a last resort.

Damn, you didn’t stop using Newegg when they started charging sales tax?

CCP Flu has slowed most shipping down from lower workforce numbers. Get over it. It will pass.
