I need to cut TV expenses but not ready to cut the cord yet.

I have Cox + HBO and it's shot up to $210 a month. That includes cable modem service, but still it's too much. I love having a DVR and we do have Kodi + streaming apps. We also have Amazon prime and Netflix so I know we could cut back on a lot of channels, but to be honest I like to channel surf.
I have ATT for cellular and was wondering if their Direct TV bundle was worth it. The one without the dish?
I had Direct from 99 to 2013 so i liked it and was used to it. Have had Countour and then Contour 2 since. I like 2 a lot. The SO prefers Direct Tv.
I'd like to get TV services down to $65-70 and Internet around $60.
But I still want speed.

I dropped DTV for Sling and shaved my monthly bill by $175.

Are you renting a modem? Just buy one. The savings will pay for itself in less than a year.

I had the same issues with Cox. Bill kept creeping up, would call them and get some discounts, 6 months later it's up again for no reason. My bill was $225 when I dropped. No premium channels, 50 Mbps internet and 2 DVRs.
If you want to stick with Cox, you can call and plead with them/threaten to drop services. When I did this my bill magically went to $175 + taxes, then $157 including taxes. Which was actually a good deal. I know I'm moving within the year and won't have cox available, so I refused.
I switched to PS Vue. so far it's been great. The DVR is nice, and channel selection is fine. I find myself not watching TV nearly as much, which is what triggered the idea to drop cable. Very happy with the decision.

I've got ATT verse TV and internet for $144/month. Cutting TV would get me down to $60/month. But by the time I got Sling, probably added HBO to it, probably have to buy another apple TV/streaming device, and lose DVR, its not quite worth it for me right now.

The thing I've learned is if you are out of contract just cancel. Wait a day and they'll call you with their best offer.

I'm like $70 a month for cox internet.
Streaming, Antenna and Amazon prime.
No need for anything else.
ETA: Enjoy your $1,680 raise.
