I need to block instagram on a grown arse man's PC, tablet and phone. Is there a kiddie program or something similar that will allow me to block instagram and dating websites so he won't continue to get fricked over by scammers? Willing to spend money to do this. It's already costed a shitton of money going to Nigeria so what's a few more bucks on software.

I'm pleased with the network ad blocker "Pi-hole" which blocks domains.

The software provides updated lists of blacklisted domains and has a utility for blacklisting and whitelisting additional domains and sites. It currently runs on Linux on low end hardware such as a Raspberry Pi or Intel Atom CPU.

I was going to suggest pi-hole as well, but it will only work for devices connected to the wifi. If the phone may be used on cell service, additional setup will be required on the phone to funnel all traffic through VPN+pihole.

This program doesn't seem user friendly. I need it to run on Windows

Jesus. I hate when people who aren’t in the medical field try and dumb down something as if they “know”

Do your research moron

Super easy for the computer. Just edit his hosts file to redirect to 127.0.0.1

Here’s a quick and easy article:

Couldn't you just log into the router and block those domains VS running a software to do it?

Every time I setup a new router's passwords I see a box where you can add in domains to block access to from any device connected via Wifi or wired.

It's possible that I could do that. He could also figure out that he can disable the wifi on his phone and do it from there too.

Do I have to do this on every PC he owns?

I use screen time for my daughter's tablet and laptop. You can block apps, websites and even password protect the settings on the device.

No matter how you do it, there will be a way around it if he's determined.

I don't know the state of the patient, but is it strictly about finances? If so, can you restrict access to funds?

It sounds like an uphill battle trying to block all the ways people can get scammed.

I've given him latitude to piss away some money in order to "learn his lesson" which he clearly hasn't done after 6 months of this. I don't want to restrict his money but let's say the bulk of it is well protected. The problem is the 20k or so that he keeps in his bank account that they chip away at. His disease is so bad that he can't seem to determine fake life from real life. You should see the pictures that he sends me. It's always a hot instagram model or porn star. I'm still young and can't pull off these women but at 70 he thinks he can?
