HTC One M8 won't charge or turn on. Blinking red light and battery symbol only

Please Help!!!

so here is the sequence of events to how my phone broke:

Wednesday evening - i dropped the phone in the turlet for maybe 1 second fefore i grabbed it. It worked perfectly after that and through the next day.

Thursday evening - I went kayaking and left my phone plugged in to my truck via USB cord; roughly 5:30 - 7:30 pm. when i returned to my truck, i noticed that my phone was dead and hot. It now will not accept a charge or turn on. all i see is an empty battery symbol with a little lightning bolt inside on the screen when i plug it in. there is also a blinking red light.

Here is what i have tried to do to fix it:

I have tried charging it using 4 different cables through the wall, computer, and truck.

I have tried holding power and vol up button for 2 minutes (recommended by both sprint ang google) as this is supposed to reset the charging circuit.

I have tried a factory reset, but i cannot make it through the whole thing without the phone dying.

It will turn on for a second, but it says battery is at 0% and when i plug it back in, the phone dies.

Any advice? Please Help!!!
