Hide Sound Bar behind wall mounted TV?

Mounting my TV above my fireplace and want to know if I can put my sound bar behind the TV. Would it ruin the sound? Any other suggestions on how to do this? I don't have a mantle.

If you have to go above the fireplace, might be good to look at pulldown TV mounts to keep from having to look up all the time.

I’d look into something like this if your sound at has mounting holes (also depends on age of sound bar, if it’s older and heavy you might need to get a more heavy duty mount) - these brackets are cheap and can drop the sound bar below the tv but still attached to the mount:

Like mentioned prior, look at a pull-down mount and then look for a soundbar mount to place it under your tv.

Yes, the point of a soundbar is to push the sound forward into the room instead of into the wall like the tv speakers would do. Putting it behind the tv would defeat the entire purpose.
