I have a laptop with a bad hard drive. I removed it to get the part# from it. It is a HDD drive and I want to go to a SSD drive. The name on the drive is SeaGate and the P/N is 1RK172-030. I've googled it;however, I'm not sure as to be able to determine exactly what to replace it with in an SSD drive. Thanks for any help.

If it's a laptop, probably any 2.5 inch internal SSD should be fine. I recently bought a crucial 250GB SSD to put in an older MacBook Pro and it works like a charm.

Is there a reason you want the same size drive? Just put in whatever you want...today's SSD prices make most anything seem reasonable compared to spinning rust.

The drive in it is 1 TB-I just don't want to go smaller. Is it the case that any 2.5in.SSD drive will plug up?

Here is a link to your current HDD: Memory 4 Less

It is a 2.5 inch HDD, so any 2.5 inch SSD should fit no problem.
