Notice when I cleaned out and dusting the inside that it no longer spins. I have watched several shows at a time on my computer to try and get it to spin and it doesnt. It hasnt affected anything but shouldnt it be spinning? Is there a program out there I can download to see if it will spin or is it done? It does not get hot at all.

You can try running a benchmark or Folding@Home on it to try and kick the fans off. The GPU manufacturer may have a software suite that includes fan control.

I’d you happen to download folding@home, it helps search for drug targets in a variety of human diseases including coronavirus.

The fan control might be set for it to spin only when necessary. Leave the case open and play a demanding video game, etc. If the fan still doesn't spin then the motor is is probably dead. If it is making noise then the bearings are probably shot. You might be able to replace the fan without having to replace the video card.

yeah, i was having a weird issue with my 1080 and forgot that I had installed precision X1 software which had done something weird with the fan speeds

Just ordered a replacement case fan for my desktop.

Also got rid of the 40 year old clock/radio that came on by itself last night making a noise sounding like a fan grinding on something causing me to open my PC case and see the dead fan. 3rd time that clock/radio has suddenly turned itself on in the last week (3 different times of day so not an alarm preset).

Ooooh weee ooooh

That clock/radio sat on a shelf in late Dad's work space at their old house for 27 years, unplugged. Only because I had space, and a nice large digital readout clock was a handy thing, did I plug it in and place it on the top shelf of my computer desk. Very, very, strange.
