It certainly didn't leak. Google gave me a notification that it was ready for me to install.

I would assume most of the poor reviews come from when Facebook split the Messenger app apart from the main Facebook app. The Messenger app required more permissions than the Facebook app did (camera, microphone, etc.) and people went nuts saying it wanted to spy on your phone etc. when really it needed those things for certain features like video calling.

gotcha. i didn't know that. i uninstalled it almost immediately. i also never get on facebook so i wouldnt use the web version ever.

Has great potential, but still lacking a lot at the moment. Assistant and the smart replies are pretty cool. I'd probably use it primarily, if it supported SMS like Hangouts.
