The slicer is just as capable as Bambu and it has a bit better print quality than any of my Bambus.

Honestly I just seem to get way better print results using PETG. Plus it just seems all around better to me for what I tend to print.

I think most people stick with pla because they just assume it is the cheapest. But petg is just as cheap now.

PLA is by far the easiest and most forgiving filament. It takes a lot of moisture to get it looking like crap. It works very good with most print bed surfaces where it doesn't stick too much, but also isn't hard to get it to stick well. It comes in the most color variations and types. It's just all around the best one to use for 3D junk that most people print. There is definitely a ramp up in what is available for PETG and a drop in price for it as well.

There is a kickstarter for something like that. Only $10k.

Resin though, there are some powder printers like that as well.

I'm sure this is old hat to you veteran 3D printer guys, but I am amazed that with calipers and a conversation with ChatGPT it generated a STL file using OpenSCAD for a pool skimmer part. ChatGPT made some engineering suggestions that it incorporated, but my skimmer is now working again with likely higher reliability.

I also discuss printing parameters with ChatGPT based on application and it makes pretty good recommendations from what I can tell. I'm going to be burning some time playing with this thing, for sure.

It’s been amazing how far AI is coming with doing 3D stuff. It’s pretty easy to make very decent artistic objects as well.

Just got my 1st printer. Bambu P1S became too cheap to not buy.

Wanting to organize my tool box--gridfinity? Also wanting to print a few Interior parts for my old Porsche that are difficult to find.

What are you all doing to vent a room when print a ASA or PTEG?

I made an overhead extraction setup because I have a few printers including resin and lasers.

As someone EXTREMELY new to 3D printing but knows my way around tool boxes and organization, Gridfinity is a space hog. If you have way more box than you have tools it can look great, but I swear a tool box salesman came up with it. I see the shadow boxes for say Knipex pliers even with the red and white logos and they look great but I have well over 100 pairs of pliers and that form of storage would require me to buy something like a 60" bottom cab just for pliers. It may work for you but talk a hard look how mouch roome you need with the various Gridfinity options (or what you can imagine and realize in CAD) and see it is works for you with the boxes you have and what your room and wallet tolerance are if you need more.

I have been poking around to find useful organization but I have settled on anything because I am like a child and end up down a rabbit hole for 100 other things I could print.

So it begins:

I was amazed I had ordered a bunch of filament early last week to take advantage of sales, coupons, and Capital One gift cards but didn't order the printer until Saturday around midnight when I got home from my trip. To my surprise, FedEx sent me a text at 10:28 this morning that it had been delivered. I got the P2S. I have to say it was a pleasure to unbox, set up, and get running. I printed the Benchy and have a vase my wife "ordered" printing now. I was so pleased the first day I sent her the link to Makerworld she found over a dozen things she wanted. I had to add a bunch of specific colors to my filament order to give her what she wanted. I have a feeling a lot of my initial printing will be for other people, just because I love doing that kind of thing and a lot easier than changing a starter on someone's car which it usually the kind of thing people ask me to do.

I was going to criticize the benchy (or at least express how I’ve never printed one), until I looked up its significance. I thought it was something akin to Jeep owners having rubber duckies on their dash. How surprised I was to learn that they actually have a purpose. I guess it’s a testament to the P2S that I’ve never printed one and have had no problems at all with my prints.

How far do y'all think we are away from a printer that just has white/black/R/G/B pla and can mix/melt an infinite number of colors?

I just happened onto a video a couple of days ago that shows this is kinda sorta possible now. By using thin alternating layers of color, lots of colors are possible from a few colors of filament. It is really only feasible on a tool changer like the U1, but tool changers is the area about to explode anyway.

I've been playing with it and it's not something I would use for myself. To me, it looks quite bad up close. Videos and pics just don't let you see it in as much detail. I've done a lot of messing with layer heights and such and I can't get it where I am happy with it. Some people might be fine with it, but it isn't something I would prefer to use with my products when I can achieve much better results with the H2C. I rather go sidecar for the U1.

I see this being great for the people that make flexi 3D slop though. Makes it cheaper for them to make more slop in more colors.
