Family tracking app: Life360 or other?

We use the Life360 app to know where everyone is at any given time. It's helped out a time or two when my wife locked herself out of her car and I knew right where she was; and she knows where to find me if I fall over dead when exploring the backcountry. It can be creepy to get a text saying "get bread" when we know the other is at the grocery store.

Life360 has just been OK, but not great. Anyone have other recommended apps for this?

Thx!

i put a tmobile car device in my daughter's car who is off at college and she doesn't know its there.

i had to force myself not to get pissed when i'd see her leaving to go out at 11pm at night remembering my own college days.

its there because there's a mountain between nashville & chattanooga and if something happened to her i would be able to summon AAA to her vehicle location even if she had no idea where she was.

my kids hated 360 and it was hard to force them to keep using it once they turned 18 and moved out.

We just use Google maps location sharing. I have an icon in my home screen for each of them if I want to see where they are.

And possibly illegal, but definitely creepy.

I use it with my family, I wouldn’t say I need it but it is nice to have. I could see it as very useful if you have a child of driving age. Especially the crash alerts. Thankfully I haven’t had to test out this feature yet. The premium features has some nice things but I’m using the free version right now.

Definitely creepy, but not illegal if the car is in his name. I know a guy who used to do PI work and was hired a lot for "is my wife cheating" type work.

you guys got any college age daughters? You can call me creepy all you want but if something happened to her and I didn't do everything I could to keep her safe I would never forgive myself. There's alot of steep roads and sharp turns in Chattanooga and you can call me creepy all you want but I sleep better at night.

And yes, I bought the car and pay her insurance.

All of this is great, but you could let her know you have the capability. That's what everyone is taking issue with.

I've had plenty of college-aged daughters.

Yes.

It’s the fact that you are deceiving her that makes your intentions wrong. If this was so on the up and up, come clean with your daughter about it. Way too controlling and secretive.

We live in a age where parents are over bearing. It's what called it as helicopter parents where parents know exactly where their kid is especially Friday and Saturdays. Glad I didn't have to do all this crap at that age.

I have a friend whose wife uses it to keep track of him. This poor guy is so controlled by her and he just lets her do it.
We were having lunch once with a group and she texted him to ask “ how’s the food ?”
