I am in need of an option to send and receive faxes either by email or directly from phone. I’ve found several apps but they are all about $250-$300 yearly. Anybody know of a better option?

I’ve considered buying a CIMFAX server that looks to be functional and nearly idiot proof. For my office/volume would probably bump to the c5 but for single user probably don’t need anything more than the a5.

What kind of monthly volume you talking about? For occassional personal use ive used FaxSalad and was happy with it. Or you can look at fax-to-email solutions that possibly meet your needs (which we did as way to save money in previous job on enterprise level)

Depending on volume Myfax is about 1/2 of your figures.

www.srfax.com

$10/month for 200 pages in/out. Not much more if you need a greater volume. Allows you to pick a local number. No contracts... you can cancel after the month if you only need it for short term.

I didn't realize there were charges for email to fax services.... I guess my university pays for that service.

We use to use google to send faxes when I had my business but it was part of a paid package with some other stuff, I wouldn't have paid just for that. Fax machines really need to die a quick death.

They won't ever be until the government either updates HIPAA and other laws, or makes it abundantly clear that signatures in email are considered legally binding.

And that’ll never happen thanks to the Big Fax Lobby.

The reason for the charges is that no one pays for a home phone line and a fax machine. It’s less expensive to pay for a net based fax simulator.
