I like the 30d outdoors with it. It’s indoors that I struggle with the 30d. The ISO only goes to 1600 and I have to shoot at 160to catch anything. In poor light it is not good. I want to increase my iso range to help along with the 10f/sec burst should be able to get much better shots.

Yeah, I generally use the old $100 prime 50 1.8 indoors. Have to zoom with my feet but the refs won’t let me on the court during the games. I just take a lot of shots and hit some/miss some. I have many indoor shots with the 50 that just blows me away - casual and portrait type stuff. Learning to bounce flash inside helped me tremendously.

Trying to stick to a budget forced me to improvise, but it costs a lot of money to take fast moving indoor shots in low light. Nothing funnier than watching parents at graduation trying to take a pic from the stands with a kit lens and flash.

I also have the itch to upgrade. Just can’t make it fit the budget. It’s amazing at how good photography equipment is today.

Keep us posted on what you wind up with and put a shot or two here.

I went with the 7d mark II. I think it will be able to do what I want and then some. Looking forward to getting some advice on adding lenses. Will post some pics in a week or so. Going to Louisville for a volley tourney on Thursday. Can’t wait to try it out. Thanks to everyone for the advice.

I've got a bud with expensive full frame equipment but he always uses his 7D II for wildlife action shots.

I have a Canon 70-200f/2.8 IS(version 1, bought used) on my 7d mark II. I love it to death, but I was very tempted to get the Tamron version because of the price, warranty, and the awesome reviews that it got. Comparisons

Currently looking at the 7D vs the 6D.

Have owned both. It just depends on what type of photography you are doing. The 7D mark ll is a crop sensor and the 6D mark ll is a full frame. The newer 6D is getting a bad rap because it doesn’t have 4K video but if you are just doing stills, that’s not a bid deal.
There are some really good deals now on the 5D mark lll. Unless you are printing large photos that may be something to like st.
Finally, the new thing now is mirrorless. Sony is winning that battle big time. I still shoot Canon DSLRs so it pains me to say this but mirrorless may be the way to go.
Hope this helps.

Full frame they are. Fujifilm APS-C is superior to Sony though. Particularly the lenses.
