Looking for a 700.00 or less soundbar with solid Atmos surround sound and wireless sub what's a good option?

Doesnt exist. You need physically located atmos speakers for solid atmos performance.

What's the best alternative? Maybe a bar with the 2 wireless speakers behind me and a sub? Not a huge audio knowledgeable guy as I'm sure you can tell but don't need first class experience just solid sound for tv and movies no music or anything like that. I just thought atmos was the new thing so figured if I'm upgrading why not see what's out there

Probably the Samsung Q800d. They won't be true Atmos but they still work fairly well.

For all that money, I bought a 5.1.2 Vizio system for a little under $200 a few years ago and it's impressive.

There’s a renewed q910 set on Amazon for $550 right now w/ 2 year warranty plan.
We just use q600/700.
These things can be finicky. Our ARC stopped working on 2 separate units on different TVs but we use Roku ultra for everything anyway now so not bad to just route video through the bar also. I wouldn’t mind a year or two old model as this tech doesn’t change much. Warranty makes it better than new I think.

I personally think quality 2ch speakers and a sub sound great but 3ch front with a sub is worth it if you can get the L/R speakers wide enough apart.

We have a Vizio 5.1.4 Elevate Soundbar with wireless rear speakers and wireless subwoofer plus rotating Atmos speakers on the Soundbar. When it detects a movie or any video content that has Atmos coding, the built in Atmos speakers rotate up, otherwise they stay down. This Soundbar is awesome. We purchased this system approximately 3 years ago for $699, but it is probably already replaced by another newer model.

True but how do you fit that into a modern home if you don’t have a theatre room?
I was still a little sad parting with my rti100s and rti38s even though they’ve been in closets for 15 years.

There are always ways but that is why I'd spend on a high quality 2.1ch setup. where you are limited to just right under the TV. Get the longest soundbar you can get if you gotta do a soundbar. I'd rather spend more money on a quality 2.1 with full range and quality subwoofer than at atmos bar. It might make the most sense to get a 2.0ch soundbar that has a subout and then get a sub from PSA, SVS, Rythmik, Monolith, HSU, etc. PSA has an awesome dual 12" sub with a small footprint that provides more than most 15" subs.
