And it's cheap $399 and $499 fly more.

30 minute fly time combined with 4km video transmission distance seems like it's every bit a professional drone. Much smaller and harder to detect also. Or for a less scumbag sounding.... less intrusive when filming.

That’s a good buy, would replace my mavic with something that portable.

biggest downside is that the video is 2.7K Quad HD. no 4k

I still have no reason to upgrade my mavic pro. Once they put obstacle avoidance on all sides then i will think about it. Mavic 2 was close but still i dont think it detected obstacles above.

I am still using my phantom 3 professional I like everything about it but it is huge it might be time to pull the trigger on this. I like the price and looks like I can bring it anywhere I travel.

Losing 4K isn’t a big lose for me, extra flight time and extreme portability is sounding real appealing.

No reason for them to not put a better camera on there though, they just don’t want to cannibalize sales.

agreed. the sole reason the mavic didnt come with sensors all over it because no one would have bought the Phantom 4.

This combined with the fact it has no avoidance sensors or any of the advanced navigation options is a recipe for disaster.

When I put my air in sport mode it’s almost inevitable that it’s about to fall out of the sky or get stuck in a tree if the prop guards are on, and it’s often nearly invisible until you can locate the blinking lights.

A lot of people won’t make 10 charges before the mini goes MIA.

Don’t be bad at flying, learn to fly helis. Going to these things from a heli is like going from a Tour de France bike to a tricycle.

So it doesn’t have to be registered with the FAA because of its size?

I use my drone to recon the never ending growth around my house. New roads, new schools , new developments . They have road blocks so I just take my drone up to see what’s going on. Also I have a beautiful river inlet with a kayak launch near my house and in the morning there is usually a good sunrise. I have some beautiful videos of sunrises and sailboats.

The first thing I looked for is the AI obstacle avoidance. There is nothing in the website indicating it has any. Hard pass. Cute though.
