Yea they better update that shite real quick.

Hopefully it's just a launch issue

Yep. I'll cancel after the first month if the on demand sucks. Of course, they could fix that issue with decent DVR.

I get the impression they rushed this out the door to beat Hulu and Google to market once they saw the success of Vue.

I'd imagine features and content get added continually

ANyone have a picture of the guide?

I'll probably head to the AT&T store after work to get my Apple TV. Just wanting to see what the guide looks like.

Just make sure you know about the local channels

quote:

Local channels on DirecTV are available for only select markets from ABC, NBC, Fox and Telemundo, where the broadcasters have owned-and-operated stations. ABC’s live stream is not available on Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7, while NBC’s live stream is available on mobile and desktop devices only.

ABC: Chicago, Fresno, Houston, L.A., New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, Raleigh-Durham

NBC: Dallas-Ft. Worth, Chicago, Hartford-New Haven, L.A., Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, Washington, D.C.

Fox: Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Detroit, Gainesville, L.A., Minneapolis, New York, Orlando-Daytona, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, Tamp-St. Petersburg, Washington, D.C.

Telemundo East: Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Denver, Fresno, Houston, Las Vegas, L.A., Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix

According to AT&T, where it does not offer local broadcast channels, it provides day-after-air primetime shows on-demand.

I'm loving the phone stream. Extremely clear compared to what I used to get with Vue.

Yea, I don't live in any of those markets (Live in New Orleans) but I use the OTA cable into my Xbox One S for OTA TV. So not a deal breaker, for me, at least.

I don't record anything. Everything we watch is on Hulu, Netflix, live OTA (sports) or through a service like Sling/DirecTV Now.

Which, I just pulled the trigger and prepaid for 3 months and got my apple tv. The app on my phone seems MUCH better than the sling app already. Easier access to movies that are VOD like Smurfs 2 or some crap I just saw. My little girls will eat this up!

no one offers cbs iirc. CBS wants you to pay for their all access pass ($&/month i think). For the few shows we watch on cbs we use kodi

Separate question for those of you that sign up...the whole no data if you are using an att device to stream thing, do i need to register the account with my wife's email (what her cell is tied to) or will i get asked during the registration about it?

I dont record much anymore either. Was just curious how one would go about it if the situation arose. And it doesnt have to be CBS. That was the example i used. ABC, FOX, NBC as well the question applies.

I am in the same boat where my wife's account is the main number on our account and AT&T detected me accessing Directv Now on my phone and notified me that my data usage won't be affected while streaming Directv Now.

ETA: I signed us up with my email and did not have to register my device.

Playing with this on an Iphone 7+ this app is very well made. Much better than Sling, and better than Vue. Looked at both prior.

Streaming is rock solid, fast, nice picture.

It appears they have a ton of on demand content. To what extent this can supplant the need to use a DVR I am not sure yet. An example I looked at SNL, appears to have the this entire season available.

As far as CBS, don't watch a whole lot, here is their top shows:

The top 10 programs were, in order: “NCIS,” “The Big Bang Theory,” the latest Republican presidential debate, “NCIS: New Orleans,” “Scorpion,” “Blue Bloods,” “60 Minutes,” “Madam Secretary,” “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Life in Pieces.”

Last time I cut the cord I plugged my Fire TV into the HDMI port of the Xbox 1 to more easily access it through the Xbox 1. Would assume I could do the same for the Apple TV.

Will test more later.

I just turned on Vue and DTVNow on the same computer, and DTVNow is significantly ahead of Vue. On ESPNU at least.
