Connect surround sound to DirecTV genie box

So I just got the DirecTV genie mini box and it only has the hdmi port on the back of it
I have sort of an order surround sound system I guess (RCA brand) and before I had the RCA connectors plugged into the back of the older DirecTV box and then into the back of the surround sound
Now obviously the genie box doesn’t have ports for the rca connectors. I know there’s a way around this whether it be to go from the tv itself to the surround sound or what
Plz dumb it down for me

HDMI from genie to receiver input then HDMI out from receiver to TV.

Not sure I follow. I don’t have a genie and receiver in the bedroom. Just the genie. The main receiver is in the living room feeding all of the genie’s

Explain in detail what you are wanting. Like genie 1 is in living room with receiver, I need genie 2 to do.... Because I'm confused

You may need to explain your issue in more detail...
If you are using a receiver in another room to control multiple zones (living room and bedroom) then my recommendation may remain the same still. Or you could run a digital cable to the receiver and just let it handle the audio while running HDMI from the genie to the TV for video.

Hopefully this is a good enough explanation. Otherwise I’ll have to use pictures
I have a DirecTV dvr full size box in my living room. Surround sound for the living room is plugged into the RCA ports in the back of it. No issue there obviously since the full size box has RCA ports on the back
The genie in my bedroom (which apparently works wirelessly via the box from the LR?) only has an HDMI port on the back, therefore the bedroom surround sound has nowhere to plug in since there are no RCA ports on the genie. So I’m stuck using the regular tv speakers via HDMI. Make sense?
The only thing I can think is get an HDMI splittler and plug it into genie with one cord going to tv and another going to an RCA converter like the one pictured above

Your best best is probably getting an HDMI splitter and doing it the way you mentioned above.
In the past, you could use one of these LINK
and still use the HDMI output for your tv, but unfortunately if you use this now, it will shut off the HDMI output due to hdcp bs

So your receiver doesn't have HDMI inputs/outputs from the sounds of it. You keep mentioning RCA... Does the receiver not have a digital audio input or is so old that all you have is RCA?

Does your TV have an audio out/headphone jack? Because you could go straight from the TV to the receiver via 3.5mm to RCA.

HDMI on genie to TV. Audio out (can be optical or red and white rca) on TV to receiver.

Don't get HDMI to RCA. The genie mini has digital out. The orange RCA and toslink. Get this... amazon dac
Leave HDMI in TV. Put orange coaxial or toslink from box to the DAC input. then RCA from dac to receiver.
