Can't verify Apple ID....

on new Iphone because both the email & cell phone associated with the account are no longer in use.
I know my user name & PW..but can't transfer contacts etc, without verifying ID.
Any suggestions?

It’s freaking awful.
Lost my phone, used FindMyiPhone app on wife’s phone. I sign in perfectly on the first attempt. Instead of letting me put my phone in lost mode, Apple texts a God Da#n verification code to allow her phone to access my find iPhone account.
They texted it to the freaking lost phone! Psychos. Can’t even log into our own accounts unless they allow it.

Is the phone number the same? Regardless, I would recommend reaching out to AppleCare over the phone. There are (or at least used to be) a few levers that can use on the backend to place an account in recovery to eventually reclaim things, but they would be the ones that can best support you.
This is one of those challenging cases where customer privacy and security challenge convenience.

No doubt, I learned with Apple to make sure all my recovery options were up to date! If not, it can take a lot of work and time to get it working again.

Not quite the same situation as yours but over the weekend I upgraded a 6 to the newest iPhone and didn’t know my old Apple ID password and it was an act together Congress to to get it going. I had to create a new Apple ID and download some copy my data app at the store because my old phone was so old.
