I have a new truck with the metal antenna with the wire that wraps around it up to the top ball. It scraped every beam in my parking garage. Can I cut it down an inch or so or will that mess up my signal?

Just replace it with the smaller antenna you can get from amazon.

unscrew old one buy $10 new one.... its pretty simple, dont cut it

ETA Also, they usually make antennas just slightly above roof line, so to warn you if you are going to hit.

Shortening the antenna will affect the reception, but if you're in the city, it won't matter much. The wire is there so it won't whistle IIRC, so you're gonna have to put some type of epoxy to keep the wire from unraveling.

You can't do like most people with trucks and get a lower level spot in the garage?

I had this same issue and bought a 3.5" antenna.....reception is a little spotty away from the city.

If I did it again id go with the 13" antenna. Just go on amazon.

I just went to Walmart and bought this. stubby antena from walmart

Just used the stubby itself. Flexible so no need to remove in a car wash either. Works about as well as the original.
