Budget Friendly Video Editing Software

Looking for recommendations. Will just be doing basic editing with a few effects and transitions along with the ability to have an audio track.

Been out of the loop for about 10 years, so not even sure what's out there.

I would download the free version of Blackmagic's Davinci Resolve. Most bang for the buck. Besides the price, there is a large ecosystem of help videos on YouTube to get up and running quickly.

If you have a windows pc, have you tried the built-in movie maker app?

Another recommendation for Davinci Resolve. You can take your editing as far and detailed as you would want and as others have said, it's free. Especially if you are looking to eventually do more complex stuff down the road, you might as well start learning on a platform industry professionals use. Tons of channels on YouTube for training.

It's crazy how much BM gives you in their free version (only the real high-end features left out) but even their paid Studio version is stupid inexpensive with even more great features. Their color correction/grading can't be beat.
