I wanted to go ahead and set it up before Xmas so she could play it that morning. I went through the setup and could not get it connected to my wifi at home. I tried guest a guest network with no luck as well. I brought to work with me and tried on my work Wifi ( I am the system admin). That didn't work either.

I called Nintendo support and apparently this is a common issue. They have an issue getting DNS address to register on the device. I had to put in google DNS address manually for it to work. I asked the tech would have to do this anytime she tried to join a new network. Bottom line is probably so. Just a heads up for anyone that bought their kid one for Christmas. The DNS is 8.8.8.8 and it worked like a champ.

I've always had problems connecting Nintendo devices to wifi. My Nintendo DS had the same problem. I was actually shocked when my daughter's switch connected without any problems.
