I think he means that YouTube can tell the difference between an interested viewer and one who is watching just to pump views, and they can tell which site(s) sent those viewers, so you risk your channel getting "demoted" in a sense for spamming message boards and such.

Shorts are trash and simply a response/manipulation to the YouTube algorithm (why 95% are not original content, but cuts from videos)

It's called " do not ask people to watch your stuff who doesn't watch your type of content". It hurts your performance.

To be honest yes those shorts are really trash. All they are doing is trying to market their long form. There are plenty of good shorts out there. In Oct 2022 Shorts views were 30B a day. Today they are 50B a day. Loads of Tiktokers are moving over which is actually making it garbage.

So what content do you all watch? If you say shorts suck then that means that no one is doing shorts in your niche. And to me that means opportunity.

home/car repairs, sports highlights, history videos, general education videos, travel videos, personal finance videos, and many other genres in between. Not very particular about my youtube content.
