This is why I have my phone automatically go do not disturb at midnight. Only specified contacts that text/call will make a sound.

If they delayed them though there would be some asshat upset they didn't notify as soon as shipped. Also, what if you worked nights - would you want texts delayed to when you're sleeping?. They probably just said screw all the nuances.

My phone automatically turn on do not disturb mode at 10 pm to 5 am.

With the newest IOS update my phone does a bedtime thing where it goes to DND and darkest the screen after a set time until a set time. It’s actually really nice.

I have to keep my phone on at night for work.
A while back we started texting people to let them know their AD passwords were going to expire soon. When it was enabled, they didn't specify the time of day to send the texts and everyone start getting woken up at midnight to tell them their password was going to expire in a few days
