What were you paying for (speed-wise) and what were you getting?
WiFi kind of sucks. Drop your router next to your streaming device and run Ethernet or , if you can stomach it, run a discreet wire to where your stream is. You can also consider better hardware for your local network if your internet provider isn't the problem (and, believe it or not, it's fairly rare that they are the problem).

Antenna. Based on where you live (how many miles of a local tower?), You need a certain size antenna. Simple rabbit ears in most of the USA will get you your ABC, NBC, FOX, and CBS. Of course, you may be missing one or another with the simplest solution. But in your case, you could probably get away with an antenna and the same internet you had with either a better router or some cabling in your house.

antennaweb will help you decide how good antenna is as an option.

I was paying $100 a month for less than 1mbps according to the test I ran.

Could shoot me a link for how that setup would work you described? The Ethernet and running a wire to stream.

I tried the antenna once and I got 5 or 6 local channels but i didnt get the ones I needed for football. The main one would be cbs and it didn’t show up.

What were you supposed to be getting? I think even satellite internet is typically faster than that.

They advertised at UP TO 1 gbps. But I never got anywhere close to that.

But what were you paying for and what router were you using?
If you're paying for more, usually the cable company will come optimize their end if it. The rest is your job. But you should get near what you're paying for. I cAnt imagine your contract said 1mbps or even 5.

You plug an Ethernet cable from the router to the roku. It isn't fancy. It may be impractical. How close are they?

Check out antenna web link above. It will tell you how strong of an antenna you need and where to place it. There's a difference between not catching CBS and not optimizing your setup to catch CBS. One is not fixable. The other is.

ETA: I see that it was advertised as up to 1gbps.
The problem is most likely your hardware if you were paying for 1gbps and getting 1.

You're not in a phenomenal location for OTA tv, sadly.

How far was your streaming device from the router?
Could you buy a long cable like this and connect your router to your device?
