When you say it "looks great", are you talking about the TV itself or the actual picture? No way a $500 75" TV has a "great" picture. What name brand is it?

Yes it looks great. The picture. Everyone that visits me can’t believe it they think I paid $1500 plus. It was on clearance for some reason coulda been mispriced. I’m sure your expensive ones are nicer but I’m completely happy with it.

1700 for a 75" tv is unreal. My first flat screen was a 50" plasma, toshiba i think. Paid $4400 online and that was a great deal at the time.

I actually broke brand new 55" last week putting the stupid legs on and realize it sucked but not that big of a deal at $375 lol

Thought hey it was too big for office replace for $325 for 50"

Prices are unreal.

Bought my parents the Vizio P-75 and they are very happy with it, looks great. TCL 75R617 is under 1500 and gets good reviews as well. Either one would be a good value

Has anyone on this board ever bought a tv and not said “it looks great”?

I bought a 70” LG 4k UHD tv on sale at best buy for $700, couldn’t imagine picture being better than this. I can’t see why anyone would pay more than $1000. OLED QLED and all that crap not worth it imo.

ETA:
Best Buy 75” LG

That’s an IPS panel. You can absolutely get a better picture than that, they have lower contrast than the other VA panels.

But generally speaking, it also depends on the viewer. Some people notice things and some people don’t.

Not Vizio. Stick to LG or Samsung.

That’s quite a statement with no evidence to back it up. The higher end vizio’s are very good, reviews of the P series I referenced support this. The lower end ones are built to have the lowest possible price so of course are going to have compromises. Low end LG’s and Samsung’s are the same way. LG really shines in the OLED space which isn’t in the OP’s price range.

OP I researched this in depth. Looking at the options out there I don’t think there is much in the 1.5 to 2k price range that is significantly better than the vizio or tcl so I would save my money and go with one of those. TCL wasn’t out in 75” when I bought or else the decision would have been tougher.

I've had several from Vizio, and all have had major problems at some point. Ports quit working, dark spots in the picture, firmware problems, etc. Most of the time, right after one year. Other owners have had similar problems. CR surveys of thousands of owners supports this. But yeah, your reviews of brand new TVs by those paid to write those reviews are more relevant than real-world experiences.

OP, stay away from Vizio, or you'll likely be back here next year asking which TV you should've bought the first time.

Why did you buy several of them if they suck? I think you are exaggerating

Because they're cheap televisions with only slightly below-average quality. I bought them for places where they'll see limited use because I didn't want to spend the money for something better that will get watched once or twice a year. As it turns out, that was a bad idea because I had to spend the money I should have spent in the first place for better quality. You can read up on the problems owners have had with them if you care to. When they actually do put out a decent TV, they're just fine for the money, but you're playing the lottery when you purchase one.

If I were you I would go pick through CNET reviews to eliminate bias.
