How about an AI flash that calculates the flash bounce and it re positions it automatically? This is really cool, saves so much time and really lets you focus on composition. Great job, Canon!

Pretty cool tech. I wonder how well it actually works.

Probably well enough that Pro Photographers will be pissed they spent years learning the fine art of flash bounce and now any schmo can do it without thinking about it.

That's really cool. But am I missing something or will it only work properly if the distance between the photographer and subject don't change? Great for studio shots but I'm not sure how well full auto would work in a more casual environment where the distance to the wall/ceiling, subject, and, photographer is always changing. Again, I could be missing something here. Still a very cool piece of tech.

It’s supposed to ship in April. I’m excited about it. Will be glad to do a write up after I put it through the paces.

If it works as advertised it will make fantastic photos.
I can change all me settings via phone app. Works as the remote. How does this differ?

This does it all automatically and the software is specifically tailored to the camera being used.

In case any other casuals like me were wondering what flash bounce is:

TL;DR Flash Bouncing is pointing the flash not directly at the subject to achieve proper lighting and better photos.

Bounce lighting
Photographers make regular use of walls, ceilings and even entire rooms as reflectors, especially with the interior of buildings which may lack sufficient available light. Often known as "bounce flash" photography, but equally common with Tungsten lights in cinematography, this technique was pioneered by Subrata Mitra in 1956.[4][5]
The area to be photographed is lit by walls off-camera, which then provide illumination similar to that of a large window. When "bounced" off a ceiling, the lighting resembles that of fluorescent tubes. As this very broad, flat lighting is more typical of an overcast day outdoors, a more realistic interior illumination is achieved by reducing the power of additional lighting relative to the available light, so that either source may act as a fill to the other. Hence bounce lighting may provide either the primary or secondary (fill) light source, depending on its intensity.
TL;DR Flash Bouncing is pointing the flash not directly at the subject to achieve proper lighting and better photos.
