Dead battery. It was old. I replaced the battery yesterday. Car started several times just fine. This morning, no power. Disconnected battery, recleaned terminals and then reconnected. Started fine. Later this afternoon, no power. Disconnected battery; reconnected. Car starts fine. What's up?

Could be a lot of things. Anything involving the electrical system. Could connect a diagnostic computer to it and get the trouble codes.
Maybe the alternator. Maybe a bad relay. I don’t know.

I a battery start to die like that once but way more common it’s a connection.
Define “no power”
Aux is fine but all goes black when you press start or turn key or there is no power at all?
Year and make might help. European cars newer than 2008 or so like to use cutoffs. Probably just need that terminal snug though, both of them.

Could be that your battery connectors are stretched out and not making a good connection. Had it happen on two different cars. Does what you described.
Autozone sells a terminal adaptor or something like that. It’s a metal cap that comes two to a pack. Cut a piece of the metal off and put it next to terminal then put your connectors on

Terminal connectors, cables, then alternator would be my diagnostic path.

Is simply disconnecting and reconnecting fixing your problem? Or are you having to Jump start/use a jump box every time after you reconnect?
If you aren't having to jump it then it's not parasitic battery drain and is very likely the connection.
When taking the connectors off the posts how easy is it to pull them off before reattaching them? Can you pull them off by hand (even if its tough) or do you have to unscrew them?

With this much information it could be anything. Start simple. Make sure the trunk, doors, glovebox and everything is shut completely. Could be as simple as some light running the battery dead.
Get the battery fully charged and after dark, or in your garage, look for any lights on. Listen closely under the dah, in engine compartment etc. for any noises like a fan or speaker running.
If the car has lots of features, like auto trunk/hood closing, if it thinks one of those isn't closed it'll keep trying to pull it closed.

If the battery is not going dead, its either a connection problem or a computer problem (it resets every time you disconnect the battery) not seeing the car is off
