Are Dell delivery delays common now?

I recently ordered a desktop from Dell with a projected delivery of April 8. Last week Dell projected delivery April 22 and offered option of cancelling. That cancel option worries me. Has anyone experienced prolonged delivery drift from Dell recently?

These delays have been going on for quite a while with supply chain shortages.

It's taking us 6 months to get laptops, thin clients, servers, switches and routers etc shipped at times right now.

I ordered a new Dell laptop last summer. Took me about 4-5 months to get it with all the delays.

I spoke last week to a Systems Admin in one of our departments and some of Cisco's products are on a 13 month lead-time.

We are a hybrid shop and have some on prem gear. We've been waiting on a few Cisco blades for 6 months because the NIC cards are on 180+ day backorder.

Ubiquiti is backed up as well. I have an order for EdgeSwitches from CDW that has been open since June of last year. EdgeRouters are pretty much unobtanium as well.

Final report, Order arrived after the single delay notice.
I have to wonder if posting a short delivery time then adding a delay is all part of the marketing to get you to place your order rather than shop around some more?
