Wish they would discount the remote.

Good deal, i have 2017 shield tv, and the 2019, everyone recommends them as the best, but they are both getting slow as crap. Takes 30 seconds sometimes just to close youtube. my ATV4k is light years faster.

I love the new remote. I absolutely hated the old one but I'm a apple household so I just dealt with it. I have some older units that have 10/100 ports that I really wanted to hardwire (have 1gx1g isp) so I picked up a few replacements with this sale. I was going to get just the remotes for them but for a little more I can have 1g ports too.

We just use the WiFi remote on phones or a iPad

Same here. Appreciate the heads-up on this deal. Will be upgrading to the newer 4k unit this week.

Besides the remote, is there anything different with this new version? I have the older 4k model for 4 years now and it runs perfectly.

I don’t know if anything is different. Maybe the processor in it? Any 4K with a gig port that I have I’ll just get a new remote.

Same here.

This newer model has a newer/faster processer with supposedly snappier performance.

You can buy just the new remote for $60, but I'd rather get the whole package of new model and new remote, and give the old one to one of my kids for their apartment.

I'll post my not-so-expert review of he newer model when I get it.

Is Apple TV worth it? I've got a Firestick that getting slower and trying to decide if I should jump on this and upgrade. Pros and cons?

PROS:
- 1Gbps ethernet port
- Great upscaling for 720p and 1080i/p content
- lossless LPCM audio output
- Can play TrueHD and DTS-HDMA lossless audio
- HDR and Atmos work more reliably than just about every other platform
- Perfect frame rate matching for 23.97, 24.0, etc.

Cons:
- No HDR10+ support
- No Atmos or spacial sound support for TrueHD or DTS-HD formats
- No kodi
- Limited dolby vision profile capability (but can handle all streaming dolby vision profiles just fine)
- No Live TV HDR currently works on apple TV. So if you use YTTV 4k HDR, Fubo 4k HDR, etc. none of the live 4k streams will show in HDR. This is more of an app issue than device issue but until someone gets it to work, it doesn.t
- No youtube HDR yet
- Some content outputs at lower volumes

As promised, here is my review of the new 4k Apple TV and new remote:

A little bit snappier performance from the Apple TV box.

New remote is vastly superior and more usable than the previous version.

That's it.
