Sure seems like all that can be done on my phone, but I still may not be getting it.

I don't own a Windows Phone, nor have I picked one up and played with recently. I'm probably mistaken, and you're probably correct.

ETA: Correct about being able to do all that. Not correct about being mistaken.

These same people crying out are shelling out the extra $100 and are still excited (and probably smug) about having an iPhone. Also think about all how many of these 16 GB phones are sold (to older people) and half of the storage is never used.

Apple just claimed this at WWDC:

119 apps means 16 gb is not enough for the average person.

Stop apologizing for Apple. They have always been greedy sons of bitches.

Are people mad that they offer a 16gb phone or that they jack up the price for more storage?

119 apps
I don't see how anyone can keep up with that many and actually use them all in a meaningful way.

I have just over 150 apps on my Nexus 6, including stock google apps. A variety of games and utilities, as well as background apps like Truecaller and Mightytext, greenify, etc. etc. There might be some I only use once every few months, but there's no reason not to keep them.

My apps comprise just over 6GB.

People are mostly upset because Apple offered 16gb, 32gb, and 64gb phones. For the latest generation, they bumped it up to 16gb, 64gb, and 128gb. Why have such a huge gap there? It doesn't make sense to have to choose between a too-small 16gb phone or jump up all the way to 64gb which is way too much for most people. The logical thing to do would have been to offer a 32gb tier.

I think Apple's angle is basically to force people onto iCloud data services, since historically their online services (eWorld, .Mac, MobileMe) have been complete failures. And if you don't want iCloud, then you're stuck having to pay 50% more on your phone to go all the way to 64gb.

I have 12.0GB used. 5.8 of that is music, photos, and messages. The rest is apps. And there's not that many of them because I've had to delete a few for space.

Unless you have videos 16gb is probably fine. Not to mention those that have no clue how to download apps.

Yeah I checked and have 75 videos. Mostly just stuff with my kids. I know I have some that are 3-4 minutes a piece from school programs. I'm sure that takes up some space.

I said they are a business. Businesses exist to make money. In a capitalist system, people vote with their wallets. Apple is getting the most votes. Ergo, they don't give a frick and their customers are overwhelmingly saying they don't give a frick either with their wallets.
